  • Collaborate enthusiastically with learners, other providers and community stakeholders
  • Manage our resources to obtain best value and secure continuous improvement

Objectives

Lancashire Adult Learning will focus on 10 Key Objectives for the period between 2006-2009:

  • Promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of the work of the Service
Maintaining and delivering a relevant and responsive curriculum for Personal and Community Development across Lancashire, including a continued emphasis on widening participation from under-represented groups and individuals
  • Developing a range of First Steps provision across Lancashire which provides
progression opportunities and specifically encourages learners to:
    - acquire Skills for Life
    - progress towards level 2
    - progress into employment
    - develop independent living skills (for those with learning difficulties and disabilities)
  • Identifying and providing appropriate provision for all learners requiring Skills for Life support, to raise learners’ employability, and to contribute to meeting the LSC’s Skills for Life targets
  • Maintaining and delivering a relevant and responsive curriculum for Wider
Family Learning and Family Language, Literacy and Numeracy, including a
continued emphasis on widening participation from disadvantaged families
  • Promoting employability, with specific emphasis on Skills for Life and
progression to Full Level 2 provision
  • Altering the balance between the contribution of the individual, the employer
and the public subsidy of provision, and reducing the dependence of the
    Service on LSC income
  • Working in partnership to ensure the best use of resources
  • Ensuring that all provision and services are high quality through developing a
    culture of continuous improvement
  • Promoting a safe environment for learners

These objectives will be applied and expressed by zones in response to local need and will provide the framework for their operational planning.
