L3/4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)

This course, accredited through OCNW, provides the first step towards the new teacher training qualifications for all those entering the teaching, learning and development profession from September 2007. Achievement can be at either Level 3 or 4. Completion will give participants a brief overview of the elements of teaching and learning and completion provides the first unit in the full DTLLS qualification (see below). This course can be completed pre-service or in-service.

Lancashire College is offering this course as either a weekly or intensive weekend programme (details below). It can also be tailored for organisations and discreet groups if required.

Scheduled dates:

Weekly: Mon - 6:15-9:15 pm - 10 weeks starting 9th June 2008 - £212
Intensive: Dates to be confirmed for January 2009 - £315.85 OR £374.47 (Residential)

PLEASE NOTE: Intensive courses include all meals and refreshments. Weekly courses are tuition only.

L5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)

This two-year course, accredited through OCNW, is designed for those already in a teaching role or intending to enter the profession. The qualification is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working in an FE College, Adult and Community Learning or delivering work-based learning. Those who achieve the qualification can use it to claim Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS). The course will be delivered in separate units and all learners will have an individual learning plan to monitor their progress. The next course will start in Autumn 2008. Teaching practice is a requirement of the course so learners must be able to access 150 teaching hours to enable them to complete the course.

Cost: £1695 + accreditation fee + mentoring fee (where applicable)

L5 Additional Diploma in Teaching English (Literacy) or Mathematics (Numeracy) in the Lifelong Learning Sector

The Additional Diplomas in Teaching Mathematics (Numeracy) and English (Literacy) in the Lifelong Learning Sector (accredited by OCNW) are designed for teachers or potential teachers who wish to specialise in the teaching of Mathematics (Numeracy) and English (Literacy). They can follow a DTLLS programme of initial teacher training (please see above), choosing the appropriate optional units and then complete the Additional Diploma unit to become fully qualified.

Cost: £285 + accreditation fee + mentoring fee (where applicable)
