The college provides accessible facilities and may be able to provide additional personal support or equipment.
Many learners are given extra support and you may want to consider this option if you are:
- Returning to studying after a long break
- Worried about your basic skills
- You have a disability
- You have another situation which might hinder your progress
If you would like more information on the support available, begin by talking to your tutor, or contact Deborah Toward, Learning Support Services Co-ordinator on 01267 276719, e-mail deborah.toward@ed.lancscc.gov.uk
We will do our best to offer appropriate support, so that your learning experience will be enjoyable and successful.
The college has good access for learners who have difficulties with mobility, or use wheelchairs. Disabled parking is available and our reception is designed to be user friendly. There are disabled toilets and shower facilities and every effort is made to ensure that ground floor accommodation is available. All our teaching rooms in college are on the ground floor, and annual risk assessments are made at our community outreach centres and we endeavour to ensure that venues are accessible.
We can provide an interpreter and have a minicom facility and mobile induction loop system for learners who have difficulty hearing. Flashing warning lights and vibrating fire alarms are available for residents.
If you are blind or visually impaired, information can be provided in larger print, on tape or in Braille. We also have computer programmes, which magnify the computer screen and read text. There is contrasted signing throughout college, with Braille signage on staircase and toilet doors.
The college makes every effort to consider the needs of all learners, and we are working towards open enrolment by listening to your concerns and continually improving our services and support. The Disability Advisory Group meets regularly to discuss areas for development, and includes representatives from the community and College staff.
The college recognises current legislation in relation to equal opportunities, and respects your right to privacy. We aim to offer appropriate advice, whilst being sensitive to your right to confidentiality.
