Everyday IT - Entry Level 2

The course is for you if you have never used a computer before, or if you’ve used one but need to build your skills and confidence.

What will I learn?
• How to turn a computer on and off comfortably
• How to use the Internet to search
• How to use email to keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues
• How to start to use a word processing programme

You’ll also learn how to connect some gadgets to a computer and how to use a mobile phone to make calls, send text and take photos.

After you’ve completed this course, you can move onto another one! Try our Everyday IT – Entry Level 3.

 

Everyday IT - Entry Level 3

This course is for you if you’ve gained some experience in using a computer and want to learn more. You may have completed the Everyday IT – Entry Level 2 and want to carry on with your learning.

What will I learn?
• How to create a comfortable work area, change settings and stay safe online.
• How to use the internet and email to arrange a day out, plan journeys and buy tickets.
• How internet tools can help you to chat online and keep in touch.
• The benefits of online banking and using comparison websites to plan holidays.
• How to create letters, posters, flyers and other documents with a word processor.

You’ll also learn how to upload photos from a camera and create a computer music library.

After you’ve completed this course, you can move onto another one! Try our ECDL Essentials qualification at Level 1.

 

Gain a Level 1 Qualification with ECDL Essentials

What will I learn?

Computer Basics shows you the basic skills you need to operate a computer.

Computer Security covers keeping you and your computer safe. Learn about online and email security too.

In the Electronic Communication Unit you can also learn how to:
• Use the Internet to find information, such as job searching
• Communicate via email at work and home
• Forward email messages, send files with your messages and maintain an address book of email addresses

After you have completed this qualification you can progress onto ECDL-ITQ Level 2.

 

ECDL-ITQ: The New NVQ for IT Users

ECDL-ITQ Level 2 delivers the IT skills and learning that employers
need most and is FREE if you meet the eligibility criteria (please ring for details).

This course is available to employed & unemployed adults.

ECDL-ITQ is made up of a series of units that can be tailored to the specific needs of employers in different fields, and to the individual needs and roles of each employee.

Units available:
• Word Processing
• Spreadsheets
• Powerpoint
• Improving Productivity

Learning is online, flexible and tutor supported.
